François Renard manages Allen & Overy’s Asia Pacific’s antitrust practice. He is based in Beijing. Prior to joining Allen & Overy, François was based in Brussels and Paris where he has more than 10 years experience advising in EU law. François has extensive experience advising Western and Asia Pacific clients on EU and national competition laws, including merger control, anti-competitive agreements and concerted practices, intellectual property and antitrust interface, abuses of dominant position, market investigations, antitrust compliance, and state aid. Since joining our Beijing office, he has also assisted Western and Asia Pacific companies in many multi-jurisdictional antitrust matters throughout the Asia Pacific region and in Europe. François obtained a Law degree from the Free University of Brussels and an LLM in European Law from the Institute of European Studies in Brussels and a second LLM from Duke University in the United States. François is admitted to the Belgian Bar, and is a member of the Barreau de Bruxelles, International Bar Association, American Bar Association and European Lawyers’ Union (UAE), and also a junior lecturer at the Institute of European Studies in Brussels. He is also a member of the team that has been nominated for the 2008 "Competition Team of the Year" award. François regularly speaks and writes on the subject of antitrust and international trade in the EU and Asia. He speaks French, English, Italian and Dutch.
