Anthony V. Nanni is special counsel in Cadwalader’s Antitrust Group, resident in the Washington, D.C. office. Tony focuses his practice on federal civil and criminal antitrust and fraud investigations and prosecutions involving both corporate and individual clients. In addition, he has provided antitrust counseling and conducted intensive internal investigations for numerous major corporations. Prior to joining Cadwalader, Tony served as Chief of the National Criminal Enforcement Section (formerly Litigation I) in the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice from 1985-2002. Working in one of the primary sections for the investigation and prosecution of both civil and criminal cases, Tony generally supervised two criminal antitrust trials each year. While he held this position, he was awarded the Presidential Rank Award of Distinguished Executive, as well as the Neil Roberts Award for Excellence in Antitrust Enforcement. From 1976 to 1985, Tony served as Chief and previously as Assistant Chief of the Trial Section in the Antitrust Division. In this major litigation section that existed prior to the consolidation and reorganization of the Antitrust Division, he supervised criminal cases and investigations, as well as mergers and civil non-merger cases and investigations. Tony was Special Assistant, Office of Operations in 1974-76. He began his career as a trial attorney in the New York office of the Antitrust Division. Tony received his J.D. in 1967 from Fordham University School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review and received his B.E.E. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1964, with Tau Beta Pi honors. He is admitted to the bar in the District of Columbia and New York.
